New Job Possibility

We are in suspenseful anticipation here in the Helmandollar household for the next few weeks.

Mike has applied for a new job!!

Oh my words are we nervous....well I'm nervous. Mike is excited (and maybe perhaps a bit apprehensive)
Hopefully (and it looks like so far it's the case) we will not have to relocate for this position. He has LOVED his job for the past 3 years and we were very blessed to get this job. Let me take you back a few years.
3 weeks before we got married, we got the unsettling news that Mike would be getting laid off from his job at Franklin Building Supply. With the economy and building market the way that it was, they had to lay off several people, Mike being one of them. It was devastating. We were blessed to have a place to live and enough savings to make it by. I still had my job and we would be okay. 3 days after this news, after putting our feelers out for other possibilities, my amazing friend Kylee let me know that her work was hiring and to have him come apply. After a long application and interview process, he was hired!! It was a perfect job for him and he loved what he was doing, working in the wireless phones industry. He loves his gadgets and toys and this was right up his alley. After only working there for 1 year, we were once again blessed to have him promoted to the manager! Wow! Such amazing opportunities for our little family. This news came just a few months before Katelyn was born, so it was a much welcomed blessing for us. He has been with this company for a total of 3 years.
Mike and I have both been feeling like he has needed something else. He has really worked his way up to as high as he can in his company (without relocating to either Utah, California, or Washington). He has wanted to pursue a higher position with any of the 3 cell phone carriers that they supply.
Well something bazaar came our way about 2 weeks ago. Mike was informed that the Dish Network Rep position for the Idaho area was open! (Mike's company sells mainly wireless phones, but also Satellite service for Dish Network.)
What?! This was so out of left field. We had always talked that he would pursue a rep job with one of the wireless companies, but Dish Network? Is this even a job we want to apply for?! Well, after much research into the position, we decided that he should apply. He was quite calm about it, and I was freaking out!! What would this mean for our family? A change in our income, a change in our family schedule, would he be gone more, would he be around more, is it a safe job for him to be traveling, would it ultimately be a good choice for our family???
Well, after lots of prayer (and me calming down) I have come to be excited about this position. It will be a raise in income, but it comes with a trade off that Mike will have to travel quite a large radius to visit retail stores. His area would be everywhere from Jackson Hole, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Boise, Nampa, all the way up to Lewiston. He won't have to visit those stores every week, but he would need to make several trips. The pros would be that it is a salary position so we will know how much our paychecks are going to be and we won't have to worry about making commission and hitting bonuses. That would be a big relief.
Well now that I've written a novel (Mike is sitting next to me watching me type and giving me a weird look that I'm STILL typing) I guess the whole reason I wrote this was just to document this exciting time in our life and to ask for prayers. Not necessarily prayers that we will get the job, but just prayers that we will accept whatever decision is best for our family and we will continue to progress! I'm hoping that whenever and whatever we find out it will be for the best.
